Welcome to our classes and support resources for pregnancy and beyond! We offer classes, videos and consultations for mothers and families for pregnancy and after birth care.

Below are a number of other classes and resources we offer.
Early discharge program
A collaboration between the midwives in the hospital’s Alongside Midwifery Unit and staff and physicians in the Childbirth and Children’s Services program, the early discharge program allows healthy moms and babies to be discharged within six hours and receive follow-up care within 24 hours from a Registered Midwife.
The program includes:
- A home check-up 24-36 hours after birth for mom and baby
- Routine newborn bloodwork
- Feeding assistance
- The opportunity to ask any questions you have

Growing pains – preparing for the physical challenges of pregnancy and labour
In this class, you will learn about postural changes during pregnancy, how to relieve hip, back and pelvic discomfort, how to prepare for labour and postpartum healing. This class is offered in partnership with Markham Pelvic Health and lead by Melissa Wong, pelvic floor physiotherapist.
Location: MSH Learning Centre, Room A2323
Dates: First Wednesday of each month
Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Body preparation for the best birth possible
Taught by a pelvic floor physiotherapist, you will learn physical changes during pregnancy, exercise safety, stretches for pain, positions for birth, strengthening tips an perineal stretching to reduce birth injury.
Locations: MSH Alongside Midwifery Unit (AMU), building B, level 4, or Markham Pelvic Health
Dates: Second Wednesday or Thursday of the month
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Birth options after caesarean section information session
If you have had a previous caesarean birth, this free class provides greater depth about the risks and benefits of both a trial of labour after a caesarean (TOLAC) and repeat caesarean birth. This will help support you and your partner in making an informed birth decision.
Location: Unit 4WF, room B4611, building B
