When you arrive at Markham site: Register with registration desk in main lobby. The registration desk clerk will direct you from there.

The Infectious Disease Clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for patients with a variety of infectious diseases. 

Examples of the types of infections seen are bone and joint infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, surgical wound infections, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, fungal infections and infections acquired during travel.

Patients are referred from the inpatient unit or the Emergency Department.

What you should know

Before your visit

Please bring a list of your current medications and your previous medical issues. We suggest you bring a family member or support person if English is not your first language, you have mobility issues or if you have memory loss.

During your visit

On the day of the appointment, please register with the registration desk in main lobby 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

The first appointment will take at least 60 minutes. If additional testing is required before the appointment, then the appointment will take longer.

The care provider at your clinic visit will complete an assessment, which may include:

  • Medication changes
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Laboratory tests

After your visit

The clinic will send a detailed report to your family doctor. If necessary, you may be referred for further care at home and/or will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment.
