Frequently asked questions
- Why am I being sent to the Chest Pain Clinic?
The Chest Pain Clinic visit is normally arranged by the Emergency Department physician that you see after a visit for chest pain. In the Chest Pain Clinic, your test results and cardiac history will help to define your risk for coronary artery disease (CAD) and other possible future cardiac events.
- What tests will I have on my first visit to the Chest Pain Clinic?
You will have a cardiac stress test (on a treadmill) and an echocardiogram (ECHO). If you are not able to use a treadmill, you may be scheduled for a nuclear medicine test with Cardiolite instead.
- What else will happen on my first visit?
On your first visit, you will have your testing done and will then have a full consultation with a review of your test results. If you are having a nuclear medicine test with Cardiolite, this test will be done a day before your visit to the Chest Pain Clinic. Your full consultation and review of tests will be completed when your test results are ready.
