Markham Stouffville Hospital provides the communities of Markham, Stouffville and Uxbridge with high quality, patient-centred health care. We offer a wide range of diagnostic imaging, cardiorespiratory and electrodiagnostic services and care. These include X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, mammography, electroencephalogram (EEG) and pulmonary function testing (PFT) just to name a few.
We have expanded to become among the best equipped diagnostic service departments in Ontario. We have state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technology and procedures for improved patient safety and care. Diagnostic services at MSH can serve all of the medical, surgical and obstetrical needs of the community and satisfy the needs of most specialties and testing.

Appointments for diagnostic services at Markham Stouffville Hospital
A physician referral is required to make an appointment for all procedures and testing in diagnostic services. All services are covered by OHIP, except the ambulatory blood pressure monitor test. Exclusion to this is for a patients self-referral of a mammogram under the Ontario Breast Screening Program criteria.

Patient safety in diagnostic services
Your safety and quality care are top priorities at Markham Stouffville Hospital and in diagnostic and cardiorespiratory & electrodiagnostic services. Our state-of-the-art equipment in the MSH diagnostic services department reduces radiation doses to minimize your exposure to radiation. The amount of ionizing radiation used in most diagnostic imaging exams is very small and the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.

If you are travelling through an airport or across a security border soon after you have had a nuclear medicine test, please let the technologist know as you may benefit from having a travelling letter on hand.
We now offer patients and their families access to their medical imaging records online.
Once you register for access, you can view your entire medical imaging history, share imaging instantly with any physician or even burn your own CD/USB from home. There is a $5.00 fee at the time of enrollment which includes permanent access to all previous imaging and radiologist reports as well as any new exams you undergo over the following two weeks. You can update your accounts with new MSH records anytime for additional $5.00 fees.
