  • Outpatient clinical service for adults and children with asthma or allergy
  • Assessment & treatment of asthma
  • Assessment of patients with potential allergic reactions/anaphylaxis

Before your visit:

  • Do not take any antihistamines, cough or cold medication for four days before your visit
  • Please bring all your medication with you
  • Do not take inhalers on the day of testing
  • Bring your health card with you

During your visit:

Your assessment may take up to 1-1.5 hours depending on the testing required.
The clinic assessment includes allergy tests and a consultation with the allergist. The patient will receive a diagnosis, care plan, and instructions to stay in touch with their primary care physician.

After your visit:

You may require further testing. You will have a follow-up at your physician’s office if required.

 Endoscopy clinic

Endoscopic services at the Uxbridge site include gastroscopies and colonoscopies performed on a rotational basis by gastroenterologists and surgeons who also work at the Markham site. The Endoscopy clinics run on Monday and Wednesday every week (except during short closure period mid-summer and at Christmas). All procedures are performed under conscious IV sedation.  Diagnostic anoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, gastroscopies and colonoscopies are performed on low-risk clientele; any high-risk patients are seen at the Markham site (e.g. esophageal dilation, banding of esophageal varices, ERCP’s).

Cystoscopy OR and clinic

Diagnostic urological endoscopic procedures are performed under local anesthesia at the Uxbridge site once/month. Therapeutic vasectomies are also performed under local anesthesia. The surgeon, who also operates at the Markham site, runs a clinic in the afternoon and sees patients in follow up and for other consultations.

The current surgeon is Dr. Boudakian.

Surgical procedure clinic

Patients are seen in this clinic for small surgical procedures performed under local anesthetic as well as cortisone injection of arthritic joints. The clinic is held once/month, generally on Thursdays.

Orthopedic clinic

Orthopedic surgeons who operate at the Markham site see patients from the Uxbridge community at the Uxbridge site. Visits are generally consultative in nature, including joint injections and follow-up to investigative tests.

Outpatient physiotherapy

The outpatient physiotherapy clinic serves patients with post-operative total hip or knee replacement, shoulder surgery and other types of knee surgery by referral from your family physician. The clinic is currently closed for restructuring but will re-open in the current space in 2 Campbell Drive, Professional Building – 2nd floor.

Adult diabetes education centre

The diabetes education program offers services for adults:

  • Newly diagnosed with diabetes
  • Those who have been living with diabetes  
  • Those with pre-diabetes, at risk of developing diabetes
  • Those with gestational (pregnancy) diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy

All programs offer individual assessment, care and education. Group information sessions are also offered on topics of interest.  

Care We Provide

  • The centre provides the following services:  
  • Adult program: Pre-diabetes, Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes (individual or group sessions)
  • Young adults- Transition from paediatric to adult care
  • Endocrinology clinic- referral required to see diabetes specialist (endocrinologist)
  • Insulin pump therapy training and care- provided by certified pump trainers
  • Gestational diabetes management
  • Foot care clinic
  • Continuous blood glucose monitoring
  • Multiple daily insulin dosing (MDI)
  • Insulin initiation and on-going insulin adjustment with referring physician order

All programs offer individual assessment, care and education and include:  

  • Nutrition and activity management
  • Medications and treatment options
  • Instruction on blood glucose monitoring
  • Ongoing follow-up care
