Laboratory services (Uxbridge site)

lab vials

The laboratory (lab) at Uxbridge site provides services for emergency department patients, inpatients, and clinic patients. Our lab is comprised of a dedicated team of pathologists, a clinical chemist, technologists, technicians, pathology assistants and administrative professionals.

Our lab provides testing in the disciplines of clinical chemistry, hematology, pathology, cytology, transfusion medicine, specimen collection and processing, and limited microbiology.

We are licensed by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, and we hold a four year accreditation certificate issued by the Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare.

We provide specimen collection services to all Markham Stouffville Hospital clinic patients from both sites.

Our hours for specimen collection at the Uxbridge site are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Community lab services

Community members who are not actively receiving treatment at the hospital, with requisitions from their physician’s offices or other health-care institutions, can visit one of our community’s lab service providers listed on the right. Community laboratory services are funded by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and, with the exception of tests not covered by OHIP, you will not incur additional costs for testing at these labs.
