Pre-registration

pre-registering at the hospital

Pre-register once you are between 20-26 weeks pregnant to provide your care team with information such as insurance coverage, and room preference. This will help facilitate a smooth admission process when you arrive in labour. After pre-registering, you will be called by our Childbirth Navigator to register for a pre-delivery session.

If you are planning a home birth with a midwife, it is important to pre-register at the hospital in case you experience medical issues during labour or childbirth.

When you come for pre-registration please make sure you have the following:

  • Health Card (Ontario Health Insurance Plan: OHIP card)

  • Completed admitting preadmission questionnaire package from your physician or midwife

  • Supplementary insurance information. Please ensure that you are aware of your insurance coverage. If you have supplementary insurance we will bill them on your behalf, with the understanding that the responsibility for full payment remains with you.
