Marcia Mendes-d’Abreu is an accomplished Human Resources (HR) executive with more than 25 years of success across multiple industries, including financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, chemical, apparel and healthcare.
Marcia has a successful track record of leading strategic transformations and re-designs; working closely with, advising and coaching members of Boards of Directors, CEOs, senior management and leadership teams; understanding the impact of change on the organization and its people, and delivering to desired outcomes.
Marcia is the founder of MDA Insights Inc. providing executive advisory services. Prior to establishing her business, Marcia held senior HR positions at top tier organizations including Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Canadian Tire, Cisco Systems Canada, GlaxoSmithKline and Levi Strauss & Co. She has been responsible for the full spectrum of HR services such as designing and implementing HR strategies and talent management programs, creating and delivering compensation plans, supporting the Board of Directors through CEO succession, and, outside of human resources, has held sales management and strategy roles.
Marcia holds a BA in Industrial Relations and Economics from McGill University, a MSc. in Organization Development from Pepperdine University, and an HRCC Certification from McMaster University. As an active volunteer Board member, Marcia currently chairs the Human Resources Committee for Markham Stouffville Hospital and is a member of its Executive Committee. Marcia is a former Board member of Junior Achievement, Central Ontario, sitting on their Governance, Financial & Operations, and Executive Committees. She is a seasoned presenter and has been a Co-Chair of the Toronto CHRO Leadership Summit (by Evanta, a Gartner Company) since 2012.
