With two sites - Markham and Uxbridge - located close to Toronto, Markham Stouffville Hospital Corporation (MSH) is a place where every contribution marks advancement towards creating a centre of progressive community care.  MSH is also a University of Toronto site for training Family Medicine Residents and the Department of Psychiatry is a teaching site for undergraduate medical studies from Queens University.

The Hospital's 350 physicians and 1,700 staff care for the residents of the Towns of Markham, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Uxbridge, and our catchment area also draws from North Scarborough and East Durham to serve nearly 300,000 people.  MSH is currently undoing a major expansion project that will double the size of the Markham facility including a new Mental Health Unit. We will also be renovating a number of areas within the existing building.

We are looking for a full-time psychiatrist to join an established group of psychiatrists affiliated with MSH, who is interested in setting up a general psychiatry practice encompassing both an outpatient and inpatient focus. Additional subspecialty interest or training would be an asset.

This is an exceptional time to join a Department composed of 6 active members representing critical strengths in stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, geriatric psychiatry, general adult psychiatry, schizophrenia, and affective disorders.

Markham, Ontario is a vibrant city offering a small-town feel with all of the amenities of a large urban centre and is located only 40 minutes from downtown Toronto.  With over 800 high-technology companies, Markham also lays official claim to the title of "Canada's High-Tech Capital". At its heart is Markham Centre, the Town's growing downtown, with the art gallery, museum, community centres and public library, while 192 parks, bicycle paths, public transit systems and 2,553 acres of green space offer a greener way of life.  A new community centre with state-of-the art amenities will be built beside the hospital.  To continue to provide exceptional progressive community care, we will be building a new addition to the south and west of the existing building that will double the size of the MSH facility.
