Speech & Language Clinic
Following a referral, our Outpatient Speech-Language Pathology Clinic can provide adult patients with swallowing assessments and recommendations for intervention in the case of swallowing difficulties (e.g. coughing, choking, weight loss, recurrent pneumonia, food avoidance, drooling, holding food/liquid in the mouth). In many cases, your referral would result from swallowing difficulties following a stroke or neurogenic disorder.
Following a clinical assessment at our Speech & Language Clinic, we normally perform a videofluoroscopic swallowing X-ray in collaboration with the Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Based on our analysis of the videofluoroscopic swallowing X-ray, we may ask you to return to the Speech & Language Clinic for follow-up treatment.
