Spiritual & Religious Care
Spiritual support is available for patients and families. We encourage you as a patient, family member, or visitor to connect with a spiritual caregiver to support you during your hospital stay. If you wish support from a member of your faith community, the Spiritual & Religious Care department can help facilitate this for you. We are here for you and always willing to meet to discuss whatever is on your mind. Contact a Hospital Chaplain by calling ext. 7106 (Markham Site) or ext. 5288 (Uxbridge Site).
24 Hour Crisis/Bereavement support is available by calling the Communications department[905.472.7000] and asking that they page a Spiritual Caregiver.
A meditation room is available at our Markham Site for personal spiritual reflection and religious rituals. Quiet rooms are available for the same purposes at the Uxbridge Site.
Please note that Spiritual & Religious Care can be accessed after-hours by calling either the Markham Site or Uxbridge Site switchboard.. We have trained On-Call Chaplain's (Community Clergy) who volunteer their services and rotate on a weekly basis carrying the pager.
A Roman Catholic Priest or Deacon is available for emergencies and can be accessed through the Communications department.
The Communications department also has numbers to reach Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist support as requested.
If you would like to receive information about the hospital's expansion or if you have a question, please email us at myhospital@msh.on.ca
