A Champion's Visit

On Sunday, July 26, 2009, Markham Stouffville Hospital's paediatric patients and staff members had a chance to see and touch the Stanley Cup up close.

Mike Zigomanis of the Pittsburgh Penguins visited the hospital on Sunday afternoon with the Cup before he made his way to Main Street Markham for a parade in his honour.

Over 60 children, along with 15 adults and teens from The Centre for Dreams, came out to meet Mike and have their picture taken with the Cup. Everyone was very excited and Mike was very accommodating, posing for lots of pictures and signing autographs.

The visit to our hospital was made even more special because Mike only had the Cup for one day and chose to share that experience with our patients and staff.

At the end of the visit, one of the hospital's paediatric patients presented Mike with a huge thank you card that had been signed by all of the children at the event.

Thank you Mike for your visit to Markham Stouffville Hospital and your generosity in sharing the Stanley Cup with our patients and staff. You are a true MSH Champion!
