Manager, Security, Fire Safety and Parking Operations
Reporting to the Director Facilities and Support Services, you will manage the hospital's Fire Safety, Security and Parking operations at the Markham site. The manager shall promote and maintain public safety through long term strategic planning and enhance public awareness through education and communication with staff. You will also act as a liaison with Public Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Agencies and various healthcare organizations. You shall also manage the human resources within your portfolio which includes recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining contracted service representatives.
Specific areas of responsibilities will include:
- Developing and enforcing the strategic plan/policies for fire prevention/safety, security and parking operations
- Evaluating performance through audit and quality assurance initiatives to ensure achievement of key performance indicators, including maximizing the parking revenue and minimizing the operational costs
- Providing input and expertise in training and procedures for emergency codes, building codes and fire regulations
- Participation on various committees, i.e. Code Red Committee
- Liaising with Markham Fire Department regarding regulations, inspections and investigations
- Enforcing Town of Markham parking by-laws
- Maintaining incident reports for all fire alarms and codes and other reportable incidents
- Graduate of a related community college program, preferably in Law Enforcement & Security Administration, Fire Prevention and Safety
- A minimum of 5 years' related experience coupled with 5 years in a formal leadership role preferably in a healthcare environment
- Proven leadership skills and excellent coaching, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effect positive customer relations
- Advanced knowledge and working experience of The Federal Criminal code, The Private Security and Investigations Act, The Trespass to Private Property Act, Mental health Act and Federal and Provincial Privacy Laws
- Excellent computer skills and experience in managing and integrating multiple complex software databases and software
- Previous experience managing budgets
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience regarding emergency codes, building codes and fire regulations
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
